Amenities
From a store with convenient goods, espresso drinks, and muffins made from scratch, to hot showers, and a half mile of beautiful river frontage, Camp Lotus aims to provide comfort to your outdoor experience!
Camp Lotus Store
The Camp Lotus Store has basic camping items like firewood, batteries, basic river apparel, bug spray and toiletries. We are also stocked with plenty of snacks, ice cream, ice, and drinks including local wines and beer! Or stop in to get some Camp Lotus gear, like our awesome hats, t-shirts or hoodies. We are also happy to fill you in on other local eateries, wineries to visit, hiking and biking trails nearby, and much more!
Deli
The Camp Lotus Deli is well known for their coffee, espresso, muffins, and sandwiches. On summer weekends expect to see people lining up to purchase warm muffins fresh from the oven, coffee, tea or their drink of choice! We serve organic, fair trade coffee and often have gluten free and vegan goodie options. The deli is typically open from Memorial to Labor day.
River Access
Camp Lotus has several river access points ranging from sandy beaches to rocky shores perfect for jumping in. Although there is no life guard on duty, we do have multiple great swimming spots suitable for adults and children. The South Fork water flow is controlled by the Chili Bar dam. This means the water level can rise and fall daily. Please be aware of changing water levels and please wear a life jacket when swimming in the American River. We are just upstream from the popular Barking Dog surf wave and are a great access point for surfers.
Nature Area and Trail
Camp Lotus has a 1-mile trail that loops around the perimeter of the property and follows the river, leading to our nature area. Parts of this trail are under water during winter and high water seasons, but it is usually accessible from June-September. The nature area has been established to protect the remaining riparian habitat and to create a wildlife refuge during the busy summer months. The nature area is a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the river, read your book or do some yoga. It’s also a great spot for those interested in wildlife viewing. We often see great blue heron, kingfishers, and occasionally an otter along the shore. In the spring we see mule deer and California quails nesting and exploring with their young.
